great weekend...

Well, the weekend is nearly over and it has been a great one.

I returned home on Friday afternoon. I had a doctor's appointment to get to and got to miss my English class. Once supper was nearly over, Dad mentioned that he needed my help taking something out of the van. He had one of those stupid grins on his face. I asked him about it and he said that it has something to do with 48" and HD. I knew it was a TV then. Dad had been talking about wanting one for quite awhile, so it is this year's family Christmas present. A Sony, LCD, 48" TV and theatre system. As Dad figured out the TV, I hung out at home for the night, helped mom sort out some pictures and stuff.

The next morning, we went out for breakfast, something that does not happen very often. We had planned to do it earlier, as a celebration for both my and Anthony's birthdays. This breakfast became a celebration of that and of Anthony's acceptance into the University of Waterloo. Yup, he was accepted to his first choice, an honours, computer science co-op (yuck!), but he seems to be pretty thrilled and we are all happy for him. I suppose his perfect grade in Computers helped him out a bit. He knows more than the teacher.

I spent the rest of Saturday preparing for Mexico. Picked up some things and prescriptions that I needed, etc. I hung out and had a fairly relaxing day. At supper, we all sat down, prayed and began to eat. Mom whispered something to Dad and, like always, I was curious what it was. Dad aleft to go upstairs to get something and came down with a late birthday gift. This really surprised me as Mom had bought me a clock earlier in the year and we had agreed that it would be my birthday gift for the next year. Anyway, excpecting it to be something small and extra, I opened the bag and saw a Kodak bag inside. I started to cry as I realised that Mom and Dad had bought me a camera. Something that I had really wanted and didn't mention because I figured there would be nothing for me until Christmas, and even then, a camera would be a large gift.

Later on, after I had looked over it, Mom mentioned that Rueben said, "Mom, Lydia doesn't like her present, she's crying." Mom had to explain that sometimes, when people are really happy, excited and surprised, they cry too. I thought that was really cute.

The next day, Sunday, I woke up and realised that I still had about half an hour to devote to my bed. Not being too tired (I went to bed at 11:30, i am used to going to bed at least an hour or two later than that), I checked my email, face book and blogs. My friend Ellen had mentioned that after nearly two months of paralysis, her boyfriend could move his toes after his brain surgery. I was so happy for her! (You can read everything, as well as my comment here.)

I got up, went for breakfast and got ready for church. Dad, who was responsible for the PowerPoint, had started off to church and realised that the roads were too dangerous to attempt, and we all stayed home for the day, watching the 50km winds outside of our warm house.

Later on, Dad drove me back here, to Redeemer where I am about to attend CITB (Church in the Box). It is a great time of worship for students and whoever wishes to attend. Today a few friends are coming which is great as well.

So I had better go and get this great weekend over and done with, lol. This is Lydia, over and out.

Hey lol. This post made me laugh, the part where Anthoney knows more about the computer teacher and Rueben's comment about you getting your camera lol.
I keep forgetting you have this blog! I'll have to read it more often.
